Volunteer – Receptionist (Newtown)

We are looking for well organised and caring people who will be the welcoming face at our Inpatient Unit in Newtown. Someone who is wanting to give back to our community and be part of a wonderful team.

Role responsibilities

You will play a valuable part in the Mary Potter Hospice Inpatient Unit with general reception duties, welcoming visitors and other administration tasks as required. Your tasks will include:

  • Meeting and greeting patients, families, visitors, Hospice staff and volunteers
  • Ensuring all incoming phone calls are attended to in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Taking messages for staff and patients and delivering to recipients
  • Ensuring that the reception area and equipment is kept clean and tidy at all times
  • Answering phones and redirecting calls to staff and patients as required
  • COVID Screening
  • Other administrative tasks that may be required

Person Requirements

  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including an excellent phone manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and well groomed
  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality
  • Have integrity and empathy
  • Willingness to be flexible and undertake a variety of tasks
  • Commitment of 12 months or more

Commitment – rostered vacancies available:

Monday 9am– 1pm weekly or fortnightly
Tuesday 9am–1pm weekly or fortnightly
Thursday 4.30–7pm fortnightly
Saturday 4–7pm fortnightly
Sunday 1–4pm weekly
Sunday 4–7pm fortnightly
